CrossFit is perfect for me. The workouts are varied and it is a hard workout every day. When I was trying to get pregnant I was too scared working out "too hard" would effect my fertility. I hated going to the gym and running on the treadmill or using the eliptical. It is just not for me. CrossFit gives me a way to compete, get stronger, and feel good about myself.
I have seen some negative articles about CrossFit lately, but I challenge anyone to come and give it a shot at CrossFit Rage. Many of the people judging the workouts haven't even experienced a workout, or seen how a CrossFit box really runs. We have the privilege of having Jordan Troyan, a CrossFit games competitor, as our owner. No one is doing anything unsafe and Jordy is always helpful to those who need to scale the workouts. Whether it be using a lighter weight or doing a completely different movement. You can't climb a rope yet?, then he has about 5 other things you could try instead. Everyone starts out at a level they are comfortable with. I didn't start out throwing around a 53 lb. kettle bell. CrossFit gets results, and personally I think it is misunderstood by those who haven't given it a chance!
We are like a big family and support each other, not only in the gym, but outside of it. For example, a big group has come together to run in the 5K to support my cousin, Kyle Pagerly's memorial fund. I knew when I put it out there Rage members would jump at the chance. Another Rage member got a school supply drive together and boom, tubs of supplies were filled for those in need! I'm so glad it has become a big part of my life.
As for my results:
Mid September of last year:
6 months into CrossFit and now 9 months in.
